Eurofestival News reports that RAI has selected a female soloist as the nations representative at Junior Eurovision 2019.
Italian site Eurofestival News has reported that RAI has chosen their participant in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Poland. The channel has selected a 10 year-old female singer. The selection was made in collaboration with l’Antoniano di Bologna.
This will be the third time that Italy has been represented by a solo female singer at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Fiamma Boocia represented Italy in 2016 and finished 3rd, while Maria Iside Fiore finished 11th in 2017.
Eurofestival News reports that the official reveal of the Italian entrant in Junior Eurovision 2019 will take place after the summer break.
Last year Italy was represented by Melissa and Marco with their song “What is Love”. They finished in 7th place with 151 points. Their best result to date is 1st place, which they accomplished with their debut entry “Tu primo grande amore” by Vincenzo Cantiello.

Italy debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2014. Their first and only win to date was on their debut, when Vincenzo Cantiello came in 1st place with 159 points with his song “Tu Primo Grande Amore”. Their worst result was in 2015 when twins Chiara & Martina came 16th with 34 points with their song “Viva”. Since their debut, Italy have participated in every contest.
