The IJsselhallen in Zwolle, has stated that it wishes to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2020.
The IJsselhallen, has stated to the Dutch press, that it is interested in hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. The IJsselhallen is located in Zwolle in northeastern Netherlands, and is a complex built specifically to hold large scale events.
The Director of the venue, Toni Denneboom, has admitted that the likelihood of Zwolle hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 is slim. However he wants the committee that will select the host city to consider more cities than just Amsterdam or Rotterdam.
The city of Zwolle has yet to discuss the matter with the IJsselhallen, as to whether it wishes to formally bid to host the Eurovision Song Contest 2020. Mr Denneboom, states that if his venue was selected, then Zwolle would be transformed by the Eurovision Song Contest.
Duncan Laurence won the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 with the song “Arcade”. After 44 years of waiting the Netherlands took victory scoring a total of 492 points.
Who is Duncan Laurence?
Duncan Laurence is originally from Spijkenisse, born in 1994. This year he graduated from the Rock Academy in Tilburg where he studied to become a singer-songwriter as well as music producer. He has also spent time previously in London and Stockholm writing music. He was internally selected in January by the Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS to represent the nation in the 2019 contest.
