The European Broadcasting Union has denied Norway a second run through at the jury final, following technical issues.
NRK has confirmed that it appealed for a second run through this evening at the jury final, but were denied by the EBU. NRK explained that:
On two occasions in a short time, the screen became black while KEiiNO performed “Spirit In The Sky”. When the picture came back again, the cameraman was in the picture.
Norway has filed a complaint for errors with the TV images during the Norwegian performance. Here, the Norwegian delegation was told that the error would not have any consequences for the further voting by the jurors.
Therefore, NRK has chosen to submit a formal complaint to the EBU. The EBU has also rejected the formal complaint.
The Head of Entertainment at NRK, and Head of Delegation have expressed their displeasure at the situation. The Head of Entertainment stated:
This was a serious technical error in production. We believe Norway deserves a new chance since this is a counting jury trial
While the Head of Delegation added:
We are, of course, very disappointed with the decision, and hope that it will not adversely affect the jury voting.
