On average 920,000 viewers watched on RTP1 as Portugal failed to qualify for the Grand Final of Eurovision 2019. The show contest was the most watched program broadcast by RTP1 on Tuesday, and was the third most watched program on Portuguese television that day.
At its peak when Conan was on stage for Portugal 1,190,000 people were watching the show in RTP1. This was 25.4% of the viewing audience at the time of the broadcast.
Who is Conan Osíris?
Conan Osíris represented Portugal in Tel Aviv with the song “Telemóveis”. Conan was born in Lisbon in 1989 and has been performing since 2011.
From the moment that “Telemóveis” was revealed as competing in the Portuguese selection, Conan was the favourite to win. The song went viral ahead of the Grand Final, with his performance in semi-final one receiving nearly 2 million views in two weeks.
