Christer Björkman is set to take the Eurovision Song Contest to America, under the name of the American Song Contest. A press conference is set to take place according to Aftonbladet, tomorrow where more details of the planned contest are to be revealed.
The press conference is set to be held at the Swedish delegations hotel with Christer Björkman, Anders Lenhoff and Dave Goodman of the EBU in attendance. The first rumors of an American off shoot of the Eurovision Song Contest came in an interview in the Israel Hayom with Jon Ola Sand.
During the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Sweden, it was revealed that the European Broadcasting Union was looking at exporting the format to the United States.
