RTK the national broadcaster of Kosovo will be broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 live.
The Kosovar national broadcaster will once again be broadcasting the Eurovision Song Contest to viewers across the country. Viewers will be guided through the show by commentators Agron Krasniqi and Alma Bektashi.
Other non-competing nations that are broadcasting the contest include:
- Canada – OMNI Television
- Slovakia – Radio_FM
- Ukraine – STB & UA:PBC
In the past Kosovo have participated in other Eurovision events. For example in 2011, RTK selected Tringa Hsya to participate at the Eurovision Young Dancers contest that year. To be able to participate in a future edition of the Song Contest, Kosovo must become a member of the International Television Union, as well as a member of the United Nations.
RTK is currently in the midst of applying for full membership of the European Broadcasting Union. A vote on membership is to take place in June. Should RTK be approved as a full member of the EBU it would allow the nation to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2020.
In 2017 the national broadcasters of a number of countries across the Balkans stated their support for Kosovo to take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. However both Bosnia & Herzegovina and Serbia have opposed such participation.
