BTRC has announced that Maria Vasilevich will be the spokesperson for Belarus at the final of Eurovision 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
Maria Vasilevich will reveal the results of the Belarusian jury at the Grand Final of Eurovision 2019. Maria currently holds the title of Miss World Europe 2018 and Miss Belarus 2018. Alongside her modelling Maria is a graduate of Belarus State Economic University, with a degree in Economics.
This year is the first time since 2013 that Belarus’ spokesperson has not been a former Eurovision representative from the nation. BTRC also confirmed today that host of Junior Eurovision 2019, Evgeny Perlin will be commentating for the channel in Israel.
Who is ZENA?
ZENA won the Belarusian national selection with the song “Like It”, she scored a total of 69 out of a maximum 70 points from the jury. The winner of the selection was entirely determined by jury voting with BTRC opting to drop the public televote.
ZENA will be known to international viewers as one of the three hosts of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Belarus. ZENA is the youngest singer taking part in this years competition.
Belarus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2004 and has made it to the final on five occasions. Belarus’ best result in the contest came in 2007 when Dmitry Koldun finished 6th in the final with a total of 145 points. In total Belarus has qualified for the Eurovision final five times in fifteen attempts.
