Musician Faiq Agayev has been announced as the Azerbaijani spokesperson for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
47-year-old musician and singer Faiq Agayev will be revealing the results of the Azerbaijani jury at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. The singer has been performing since 1988 and has received the title of State Artist of Azerbaijan. He was previously a member of the Azerbaijani jury in 2013 and 2015.

Chingiz was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, he was among four singers shortlisted for the competition. The three other singers who were also shortlisted by iTV for the contest were:
- Samira Efendi
- Tofig Hajiyev
Azerbaijan held an open call for songs for this years Eurovision Song Contest. It has also held an internal castings process to determine the singers who have been shortlisted to represent the nation in Tel Aviv.
Chingiz will be known to Azerbaijani’s for winning Yeni Ulduz in 2007 which was one of the most popular shows on Azerbaijani television. At the time he was only 16 years old and since then has gone to become an established artist.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song “Day After Day”, they finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song “Running Scared”. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In 2018 Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time, having previously had a 100% qualification record.
