Chingiz has today released an unplugged version of “Truth”, his entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv.
This years Azerbaijani entrant for the Eurovision Song Contest, Chingiz, has released an unplugged version of his song “Truth”. The unplugged performance is the first public performance with his backing singers for the contest in Israel.
The Azerbaijani team for Israel is formed of:
- Pernille Leeloo – Participated in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019
- Sara Linnea – Finalist in Melodifestivalen 2012 and backing singer for Moldova in 2018
- Peter Simpson – Currently is working with Cesar Sampson (Austria 2018)
- Patrik Jean
- Cedrik Hammar
Chingiz said regarding his team for Tel Aviv that:
I’m so happy to have these truly talented and extremely professional guys joining me on the stage in Tel Aviv! Together with our musical producer Isa Melikov, brilliant vocal coach Alex Panayi and ‘Truth’ songwriter Borislav Milanov we went through so many singers’ profiles to select ones who will bring their own touch to my song and make it even more colorful for the live performance. Since the first rehearsal it all worked perfectly between us, like a beautiful harmony
Azerbaijan’s Selection for Eurovision 2019
Chingiz was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, he was among four singers shortlisted for the competition. The three other singers who were also shortlisted by iTV for the contest were:
- Samira Efendi
- Tofig Hajiyev
Azerbaijan held an open call for songs for this years Eurovision Song Contest. It has also held an internal castings process to determine the singers who have been shortlisted to represent the nation in Tel Aviv.
Chingiz will be known to Azerbaijani’s for winning Yeni Ulduz in 2007 which was one of the most popular shows on Azerbaijani television. At the time he was only 16 years old and since then has gone to become an established artist.
Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song “Day After Day”, they finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song “Running Scared”. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In 2018 Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time, having previously had a 100% qualification record.
