PÆNDA has revealed in an interview with Austrian media that she will be joined by her sister on stage at Eurovision.
PÆNDA will have the support of her sister for her performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Speaking to APA, the singer revealed that her sister is among the backing singers who will be travelling to Israel to perform at the Eurovision Song Contest. With regards to what to expect from her performance in Tel Aviv she added:
It would be very strange to jump around on stage to the song. So it’s going to be quiet.
The singer went on to add that she was unsure as to whether she would make it through to the Grand Final, but will enjoy the Eurovision experience regardless.
Who is PÆNDA?
PÆNDA has been writing songs since she was 14 years old, after realising music was more than just a hobby she moved to Vienna to study jazz and popular singing. Since 2015 she has been performing under the name PÆNDA.
She released her debut album “EVOLUTION I” in early 2018 to critical acclaim. PÆNDA’s second album, titled “EVOLUTION II”, will be released on April 26, 2019.
Austria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957, Bob Martin represented the country on their debut, but finished in last place scoring just 3 points. The country has gone on to finish last in the contest on 8 occasions. Austria has won the contest on two occasions, the first being in 1966 when Udo Jürgen performed “Merci, Cherie”. It was 48 years later than Austria won again when Conchita Wurst performed “Rise Like a Phoenix” scoring a total of 290 points.
