The four backing vocalists who will be joining Chingiz at Eurovision 2019 have been revealed.
The team that will be joining Chingiz for his performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 has been revealed. escKaz reports that an all nordic team of backing vocalists will be working with the Azerbaijani delegation for their performance in Tel Aviv. The backing vocalists are:
- Cedrik Hammar
- Patrick Jean Olsson
- Pernille Leeloo – Competed in Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019 with “That Vibe”
- Sara Lauinger – Backing singer and dancer for Moldova at Eurovision 2018
Rehearsals got underway in Kyiv, Ukraine earlier this week, with Alex Panayi returning as the vocal coach for Azerbaijan.

Chingiz was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, he was among four singers shortlisted for the competition. The three other singers who were also shortlisted by iTV for the contest were:
- Samira Efendi
- Tofig Hajiyev
- Leman
Azerbaijan held an open call for songs for this years Eurovision Song Contest. It has also held an internal castings process to determine the singers who have been shortlisted to represent the nation in Tel Aviv.
Chingiz will be known to Azerbaijaniโs for winning Yeni Ulduz in 2007 which was one of the most popular shows on Azerbaijani television. At the time he was only 16 years old and since then has gone to become an established artist.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song โDay After Dayโ, they finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song โRunning Scaredโ. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In 2018 Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time, having previously had a 100% qualification record.
