The official music video for “Truth” has passed 1 million views on YouTube, as Chingiz continues rehearsals in Baku for Eurovision 2019.
Chingiz’s entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 “Truth” has passed 1 million views on YouTube. The song which was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, passed 1 million views earlier this week. The song has also now been released on Spotify and Apple Music, with further digital releases to come.
This week has also seen Chingiz venture in to the studio to rehearse his performance for Eurovision. The singer has been joined by vocal coach and two times Eurovision entrant Alex Panayi in rehearsals. Alex has worked with a number of delegations in recent years including Russia and Belarus.
Azerbaijan’s Selection for Eurovision 2019
Chingiz was internally selected to represent Azerbaijan in Tel Aviv, he was among four singers shortlisted for the competition. The three other singers who were also shortlisted by iTV for the contest were:
- Samira Efendi
- Tofig Hajiyev
- Leman
Azerbaijan held an open call for songs for this years Eurovision Song Contest. It has also held an internal castings process to determine the singers who have been shortlisted to represent the nation in Tel Aviv.
Chingiz will be known to Azerbaijani’s for winning Yeni Ulduz in 2007 which was one of the most popular shows on Azerbaijani television. At the time he was only 16 years old and since then has gone to become an established artist.

Azerbaijan debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008, they were represented by Elnur & Samir with the song “Day After Day”, they finished 8th in the final. In 2011 Azerbaijan won the Eurovision Song Contest represented by Ell & Nikki and their song “Running Scared”. The song scored a total of 221 points, receiving only three sets of 12 points from Malta, Russia and Turkey. In 2018 Azerbaijan failed to qualify for the final for the first time, having previously had a 100% qualification record.
