Russia: Sergey Lazarev’s Backing Vocalists for “Scream” Revealed

The four backing vocalists who will be joining Sergey Lazarev at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 have been revealed.

Adam Svensson, Jennie Jahns, Eric Segerstedt and Simon Lingmert will be joining Sergey Lazarev as backing vocalists for his entry “Scream”. The all Swedish team are currently in Moscow as rehearsals continue for Russia’s performance at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.

Adam Svensson has previously been a backing singer at Melodifestivalen, as has Simon Lingmert. Eric Segerstedt has competed in Melodifestivalen once as part of EMD in 2009, and then in a duet with Tone Damli in 2013.

Jennie Jahns is the only member of the group with previous experience at the Eurovision Song Contest. She has past experience as a backing singer for Azerbaijan at the competition.

Who is Sergey Lazarev?

Russian singer Sergey Lazarev has been singing and acting since he was ten years old, and had received his first award in music by fourteen. He represented Russia at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm, Sweden, with his song โ€œYou Are The Only Oneโ€. He placed third in the grand final, and will return to the contest this year in Tel Aviv.

Russia debuted in Eurovision in 1994 and has gone on to be one of the most successful countries in the contest. Since the mid-00s Russia has had a string of strong results including their first and only victory in 2008. Dima Bilan won the contest in Belgrade, Serbia with the song โ€œBelieveโ€ taking the contest to Moscow in the following year. In 2015 and 2016, Russia finished in 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the final.
