PÆNDA, Austria’s representative at Eurovision 2019, has announced a fan meeting and tour dates for 2019.
Austrian singer PÆNDA will embark on a promotional tour following the release of her second album, Evolution II. She will visit at least seven cities in her home country later this year, starting with an album release show in Vienna on April 23. Her tour will also take her to the Elwood Music Festival, Austria in July, where she will be one of the acts sharing the stage with the headliner, Austrian DJ Parov Stelar. Eric Papilaya, Austria’s representative at Eurovision 2007, is also expected to be at that show. Later that month, she will also be performing at Kronehit Electric Nation 2019 alongside acts such as Armin van Buuren and the Chainsmokers.
Here is the list of the first tour dates announced:
- April 23 – Album Release Show – Grelle Forelle, Vienna
- July 3 – Parov Stelar at Elwood Music Festival, Austria
- July 13 – Kronehit Electric Nation 2019
- November 15 – Evolution II Tour, Klagenfurt
- November 26 – Evolution II Tour, Salzburg
- November 27 – Evolution II Tour, Linz
- November 30 – Evolution II Tour, Bludenz
Evolution II will be released to the public on April 26.
Meanwhile, PÆNDA will be also holding a meet and greet event for her fans on April 8, organized for OGAE members and readers of Eurovision Austria by Thyago Ohana of Free Hugs Vienna and Marco Schreuder of the Merci, Chérie Podcast. This event will be held on April 8 at 18:30. Details can be found on the Eurovision Austria website.
PÆNDA was revealed as the Austrian act for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv in late January. She will be performing the song “Limits,” which was revealed on March 8. She will perform in the second semi-final on May 16 for a spot in the final on May 18.
Who is PÆNDA?
PÆNDA has been writing songs since she was 14 years old, after realising music was more than just a hobby she moved to Vienna to study jazz and popular singing. Since 2015 she has been performing under the name PÆNDA.
She released her debut album “EVOLUTION I” in early 2018 to critical acclaim. PÆNDA’s second album, titled “EVOLUTION II”, will be released on April 26, 2019.
Austria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957, Bob Martin represented the country on their debut, but finished in last place scoring just 3 points. The country has gone on to finish last in the contest on 8 occasions. Austria has won the contest on two occasions, the first being in 1966 when Udo Jürgen performed “Merci, Cherie”. It was 48 years later than Austria won again when Conchita Wurst performed “Rise Like a Phoenix” scoring a total of 290 points.
