After weeks of debate TVP has decided that Tulia will be performing “Pali Się” at this years Eurovision Song Contest. The song was proposed by Universal Music as the song that Tulia will perform in Tel Aviv, however there were questions regarding whether the song would be performed in English, Polish or a combination of the two. It has now been revealed they will sing in both languages.
In total 140 songs were received by TVP for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. Among the jury members who helped select the Polish entry for Tel Aviv was Konrad Smuga who helped stage the Eurovision performances of Kasia Moś and Roksana Węgiel.
Who are Tulia?
The group, made up of Patrycja Nowicka, Dominika Siepka, Joanna Sinkiewicz and Tulia Biczak, are known for combining traditional Eastern European style singing with modern music.
The group formed in 2018, in which year they performed on FRYDERYKI 2018 gala, as well as winning three awards at the Polish Song Festival and receives a platinum award for their debut album.
Poland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994 alongside a number of other Eastern European countries. Their debut year saw their best result to date, as Edyta Gorniak finished in 2nd place with her song “To nie ja!”. Following this, Poland failed to repeat this initial success, managing a top 10 placing on only one other occasion during their initial 1994-2011 run in the contest. In 2012, following a string of non-qualifications, Poland withdrew from the contest due to financial difficulties. Since their return in 2014, they have been considerably more successful in the contest, having qualified for the final for every year up to 2017.
