Switzerland: Luca Hänni to Eurovision 2019

Luca Hänni has been revealed as the Swiss representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv with the song “She Got Me”.

Luca is a singer-songwriter from Bern, Switzerland. He is best known for competing in the ninth season of Deutschland sucht den Superstar in 2012. He went on to win the show, becoming the first non-German singer to do so. His debut single topped the charts in Germany, Switzerland and Austria, and his debut album reached number one in Switzerland and Austria.

The singer has a link to the Eurovision Song Contest having been the nation’s spokesperson at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. He announced the results of the Swiss jury which awarded 12 points to Salvador Sobral of Portugal.

This year SRF has opted to internally select both the singer and song that will represent the nation in Tel Aviv, this comes on the back off four years of non-qualification to the final.

While the Swiss entry has been internally selected, two juries have had a say in the decision. All of the songs have been listened to by a combination of public jury and international expert jury. The public jury was made up of 100 Swiss citizens, while the international jury was formed of individuals with Eurovision links.
