Sveriges Radio has opened the submissions process for P4 Nästa 2019, which will lead to one act competing in Melodifestivalen 2020.
From today until April 1, Sveriges Radio is looking for newly written and newly recorded music from both new and established songwriters and artists, residents and companies in Sweden to compete in P4 Nästa 2019.
The show searches for the best new talent in Sweden, with each P4 station across Sweden holding a local selection to find the best act in their area. Finals will be held between May 1 and July 27, with the audience listening and a jury at the show selecting the winner for their area. A jury formed of Sveriges Radio and music industry representatives will then select eight acts to compete in a final at the end of summer.
One of the eight acts that will compete in the final of P4 Nästa 2019 will go on to compete in Melodifestivalen 2020. The act will be selected by a jury and gives the selected artist the opportunity to perform for an audience of nearly 3 million viewers across Sweden.
The rules of the selection can be found at the Sveriges Radio webiste here.

Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
