There are several familiar names in this years Norwegian selection. Kjetil Mørland was one half of the duo who represented Norway in the 2015 contest in Vienna with Monster Like Me. He is competing this year as an artist with En livredd mann but also is a co-writer of The bubble to be perfomed by Adrian Jørgensen.
Aleksander Walmann is also listed as a co-writer of The bubble. Aleksander, along with JOWST, represented Norway in Eurovision 2017 in Kyiv with Grab the Moment.
Another familiar name is Laura Groeseneken (aka Sennek) who represented Belgium in Eurovision 2018 with A Matter of Time. She is a co-writer on Carina Dahl’s track Hold me down. Carina Dahl has twice before participated in MGP: in 2011 and in 2013. Carina’s song is co-written by Ashley Hicklin and Jeroen Swinnen who previously entered Eurovision with Tom Dice’s Me and My Guitar (Belgium 2010) and also Laurell Barker who co-wrote Stones (Switzerland 2018).
One name not on the list who was earlier rumoured to be involved is Alexandra Joner who previously participated in MGP 2015.
Melodi Grand Prix has been used to select all but three of Norway’s Eurovision entrants since 1960. Norway didn’t take part in the 1970 and 2002 Eurovision Song Contests, and therefore didn’t host MGP those years, and didn’t hold the contest in 1991 as they felt the entries were of “too low quality”.
The 2019 edition will be hosted by Kåre Magnus Bergh and Heidi Ruud Ellingsen.
Last year, after winning the 2018 edition of MGP, Alexander Rybak (winner of Eurovision 2009) returned to the Eurovision stage to represent Norway for the second time. He placed 15th in the Grand Final with his song “That’s How You Write A Song.”

Norway in the Eurovision Song Contest
Norway debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1960, and have won the contest three times – in 1985, 1995 and 2009. The country has the dubious record of finishing last the most times, eleven in total, and have received nul points four times. Norway last won the contest in 2009 when Alexander Rybak broke all records with his song “Fairytale”. He scored 387 points in the final, receiving 16 sets of 12 points and scoring points from every country.
