AVROTROS is reported to have selected a dance track to represent the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
Show Nieuws reports that the Dutch national broadcaster has now selected the song that will represent them at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019. According to the report AVROTROS has selected a dance track to represent the Netherlands on stage in Tel Aviv, Israel. The broadcaster is now looking for a singer to perform the song at Eurovision.
As of the start of January AVROTROS had not selected either the singer or song for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.Jan Smit who is a member of the committee that will select the Netherlands participant and song for Eurovision 2019 said at the time that;
I can say from the bottom of my heart that we have not found anyone yet
The Dutch national broadcaster has taken a different approach to the contest this year. In previous years the broadcaster has focused on finding big name artists to represent the Netherlands and then select a song. This year AVROTROS has been looking for the song and then find the appropriate singer.
Waylon represented The Netherlands at Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal. He was internally selected by Dutch broadcaster AVROTROS, and sang “Outlaw In ‘Em”. The Netherlands finished 18th with 121 points.

The Netherlands debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956 and has gone on to compete in all bar four contests. To date the Netherlands has won the contest on four occasions the latest being in 1975. The Netherlands struggled in the contest from 2000 onwards, between 2004 and 2013 the country only qualified twice for the final. The countries best result since 1975 occurred in 2014 when The Common Linnets finished 2nd in Copenhagen with a total of 238 points, 52 points behind Austria.
