Sheppard have revealed that ‘On My Way’ is the title of the song that they hope to represent Australia with at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
The title of Sheppard’s entry for the Australian national selection for Eurovision 2019 has been revealed, Eurovision – Australia Decides. ‘On My Way’ is the title of the song that the group are hoping will take them to Tel Aviv this May. The song is set to be released on February 1, ahead of the national final which will take place one week later. George Sheppard has previously spoken about the song saying;
Luckily we already had a song written which was perfect for Eurovision. It has the classic massive, anthemic Sheppard sound, celebrating love and the fire that burns within you when you’re in love.
We are also planning an epic performance using technology and colour and light to tell the story in an interesting, unique way.
Eurovision – Australia Decides is set to take place on February 8 and 9 in Gold Coast. The selection show will take place over two days, with live performances broadcast on February 8 and 9, with a live voting show broadcast on February 9. The show is set to be hosted by Myf Warhurst and Joel Creasey, who have been Australia’s commentators at the contest since 2017.
Jessica Mauboy represented Australia in Lisbon with “We Got Love”. She finished 20th in the final with 99 points. This was the first time that Australia did not finish in the top 10 in the final.
Australia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as part of celebrations marking 60 years of the Eurovision Song Contest. The broadcaster SBS has broadcast Eurovision in Australia since 1983. Australia’s best result to date came in 2016 Australia when Dami Im, with the song “Sound of Silence,” finished in 2nd place in the final scoring 511 points, just 23 points away from victory.
