Neda Parmać who took part in Eurovision 2010 and 2005 as part of Feminnem will be submitting a song for Dora 2019.
Neda Parmać has revealed to Eurosong.hr that she will be attempting to take to the stage of the Eurovision Song Contest for a third time. The singer who previously represented Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest as part of Feminnem is hoping to take part as part of the Gelato Sisters, she said that;
This year I’m going to the Dora with Gelato Sisters, hopefully, with a song written by my sister Tvrtko Hrelec, who is also a keyboardist and producer in the band. We’re just in the studio, we’re recording it
The Gelato Sisters are formed of Neda Parmać, Romana Pavliša and Sanja Parmać, they have been performing since 2013. The group is known for their Great Gatsby styled music and videos.
Feminnem represented Bosnia & Herzegovina at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2005. They finished 14th in the final with the song “Call Me” scoring 79 points. They returned in 2010 representing Croatia in Oslo, but failed to make it out of their semi-final.
The contest will be returning to Opatija and be hosted at the Marino Cvetkovic Sports Hall. Opatija is the home of Dora, having previously hosted the contest during its early years in the 1990s. The final of Dora 2019 is now set for February 16, with the winner representing Croatia at the Eurovision Song Contest.
Dora was previously used to select every Croatian entry from the country’s debut in 1993 until 2011. HRT cancelled the selection after 2011, citing Croatia’s poor results in the last ten years and decreasing public interest.
Croatia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, they were one of three countries to debut in the contest that year. Croatia’s best result came in 1999 when Doris Dragovic finished 4th in Jerusalem. She performed the song “Marija Magdalena” which scored a total of 118 points, this included 12 points from Slovenia and Spain. Croatia returned to the contest in 2016 having withdrawn after the 2013 contest due to a string of poor results and financial difficulties.
