A campsite capable of accommodating 2000 people is set to be constructed at the Ganey Yehosha Park for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019.
Amid increased speculation regarding whether Tel Aviv can accommodate the expected number of visitors for the Eurovision Song Contest, the municipality has announced plans for the construction of a campsite for the contest. The Municipality has launched a tender for the construction of a camp site capable of accommodating 2,000 people, that will be in place for a period of 2 months.
The campsite will be built at the Ganei Yehoshua Park which is located within walking distance of the venue for Eurovision 2019. There will be three levels of accommodation available:
- Basic tents or space for tents for pitched
- Glamping tents that will offer a higher level of comfort
- Trailers that are air-conditioned and offer show facilities
Israel Hayom reports that the tent city is expected to include service areas and showers, food and beverage complexes, a bicycle rental and shuttles for Eurovision. The Mayor of Tel Aviv-Jaffa commented;
The Tel Aviv-Jaffa Municipality is committed to creating a great Eurovision and is working on creating an extraordinary experience for the tourists who will come to the city. The Tent City is only one of the many initiatives we plan for the Eurovision Song Contest The guests will be able to enjoy all the activities and events that the city will have to offer.
Tel Aviv will host the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in the Expo Tel Aviv (International Convention Centre) on May 14, 16 and 18 2019. After receiving bids from several cities across Israel, the final two remaining candidate cities were Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. KAN recommended Tel Aviv to the Reference Group.
