RTVSLO has revealed the singers who will be vying to represent Slovenia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.
The ten artists competing in EMA 2019 have been revealed by the Slovenian national broadcaster. The participants competing in EMA 2019 are:
- Fed Horses – Ti ne poznaš konjev (You don’t know the horses)
- INMATE – Atma
- Kim – Rhythm Back to Me
- Lumberjack – Lepote DNA (The beauty of DNA)
- Okustični – Metulji plešejo (Butterflies are dancing)
- Raiven – Kaos (Chaos)
- Renata Mohorič – Three Bridges
- René – Ne poveš (Don’t say)
- Ula Ložar – Fridays
- Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl – Oprosti (Sorry)
EMA is set to return to a one off show, after semi-finals were reintroduced to the contest just two of years ago. EMA 2019 will feature up to ten artists, all vying to represent Slovenia in Tel Aviv, Israel. In the final, a jury will select the two acts that will perform in the Super Final, with the winner to be determined entirely by public televote.
Lea Sirk represented Slovenia in Lisbon this year with “Hvala, ne!” She was the first Slovene representative to qualify for the final since 2015. She finished 22nd with 64 points
Slovenia was one of three countries to join the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993. The country qualified through a specially organised selection round called “Kvalifikacija za Millstreet” which was hosted in Slovenia, seven countries competed for three spots in Eurovision 1993. The country has participated in 22 editions of the Eurovision Song Contest. Their best result came in 1995 when Darja Švajger finished 7th scoring a total of 84 points, she is closely followed by Nuša Derenda who finished 7th in the 2001 contest with 70 points.
