The hosts of Eurovizijos nacionaline atranka have been revealed today.
Lithuanian broadcaster LRT has revealed that Gabriele Martirosianaite and Giedrius Masalskis will host the Eurovision national final show Eurovizijos nacionaline atranka 2019. Gabriele and Giedrius are no strangers to hosting the contest, as they hosted the 2016 and 2010 editions respectively.
When asked about their hosting duties, Gabriele said:
Giedrius is a true broadcast professional. I grew up listening to his voice on radio, watching him on television. I would never have thought that the day will come when we will become stage partners. Life is so unexpected and so wonderful that you take and find yourself in situations that you have not even dreamed of.
Filming will take place next week. The selection will begin in January, with the final being held on February 23. The venue of the final is set to be revealed alongside the selection participants in December.
Ieva Zasimauskaite represented Lithuania at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. With her song “When We’re Old”, she placed 12th in the Grand Final.
Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, however on their debut they finished in last place with nul points. Lithuania didn’t return to the contest until 1999 when Aiste finished 20th with the song “Strazdas”. Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 when LT United performed “We Are The Winners”, they finished 6th in the final with a total of 162 points. Lithuania’s only other top.10 finish came in 2016 when Donny Montell performed “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” in Stockholm, he received 12 points from the public in Ireland, Norway & United Kingdom.
