The title of the Cypriot entry for Eurovision 2019 looks to have been revealed as “Replay”.
“Replay” looks set to be the title of the Cypriot entry for next years Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel. The reveal comes as CyBC continues to drop hints and teasers regarding all aspects of the entry for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
The song has been written by Alex P who wrote “Fuego” which went on to be Cyprus’ best result in the Eurovision Song Contest and went on to be a charting hit across Europe. The whole creative team behind the Cypriot entry for Tel Aviv is set to be formed of Alex P, Teddy Sky, Viktor Svensson, Albin Nedler and Kristofer Fogelmark.
For a fourth year the Cypriot performance at the Eurovision Song Contest will be directed by Sacha-Jean Baptiste. The Swedish choreographer has become well known for her impressive visuals and striking staging at the Eurovision Song Contest. At the 2018 contest she directed the performances of Cyprus, Australia and Bulgaria, she has also previously worked with the delegations of Armenia and Georgia.
Cyprus debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981. Their best result was in 2018, with Eleni Foureira and performance of the song “Fuego” won second place with 436 points. Before then, their best results in the contest came in the form of three fifth place finishes. In 2004, Lisa Andreas performed “Stronger Every Minute” in Istanbul, Turkey. She finished 5th in the final scoring 170 points, which included 12 points from Greece. They also placed fifth in 1997 with Hara & Andreas Constantinou and their song “Mana mou”, and in 1982 with Anna Vissi’s “Mono i agapi.” Cyprus withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest in 2014 due to financial difficulties but returned again in 2015.
