  1. The North African countries don’t compete because of 2 Reasons.

    1. Most are Muslim countries and the contest isn’t compatible with their beliefs and the governments tend to have strong influence over the media

    2. Israel. The north African countries ban Israeli content and like Lebanon was planning wouldn’t broadcast their entry. The only Reason Morocco competed was because Israel had withdrawn and Tunisia was set to debut in 1977 but withdrew because of Israel.

    1. Don’t worry, at this point their participation in Eurovision is almost impossible. They wouldn’t compete together with Israel, they have a special law against showing anything Israeli on TV.
