NDR has revealed six artists who will be participating in Unser Lied für Israel, and vying to represent Germany at Eurovision 2019.
As the songwriting camp for Unser Lied für Israel continues in Berlin, Germany the first six artists taking part in the show have been revealed. The six artists were selected after an auditions round was held in Cologne last month. The finalists revealed today by NDR are:
- Aly Ryan
- BB Thomaz
- Gregor Hägele
- Lilly Among Clouds
- Linus Bruhn
- Makeda Purple
NDR is still talking to other artists regarding their participation in the German selection process for Eurovision 2018. A maximum of eight acts will compete in the final of Unser Lied für Israel.
Germany will select their participant for Eurovision 2019 in February. The show is set to be hosted by Barbara Schöneberger and Linda Zervakis. Tickets for the show will be put on sale in mid-January.
Germany was one of seven countries to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1956. The country has taken part in every contest since then, apart from in 1996 when they failed to make it through the qualifying round. To date Germany has won the contest twice, the first time being in 1982 when Nicole sang “Ein Bisschen Frieden” in Harrogate, which later became a global hit. Germany didn’t win again until 2010, when Lena sang “Satellite” in Oslo. She received 9 sets of 12 points, scoring 236 points overall.
