United Kingdom: Mel Giedroyc To Host Eurovision: You Decide 2019

Mel Giedroyc has confirmed that she will be hosting Eurovision: You Decide 2019, the United Kingdom’s Eurovision selection.

Mel Giedroyc will fronting Eurovision: You Decide for a fourth year running, the television presenter has revealed. Speaking on Magic Radio to Alice Arnold she confirmed that she would be presenting Eurovision You Decide, with the final to be held in either January or February.

The television presenter and comic first became involved in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2015 as one of the two commentators for the UK during the semi-finals. She continued to co-host with Scott Mills until 2018, when Rylan took her place. In 2018 Mel Giedroyc presented the results of the United Kingdom’s jury vote.

SuRie recently represented the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018, where she placed 24th in the Final with her song “Storm”. Her song “Storm” entered the Official Singles Charts in the United Kingdom at No.50, becoming the highest charting entry from the nation in four years.

The United Kingdom debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 and holds the record for the most consecutive appearances in the contest. To date the UK has won the contest a total of five times, with their first victory coming in 1967 and their latest in 1997. The UK holds the record for the most second place finishes in the contest, having been runner-up a total of 15 times. Since 2000 the UK has finished within the top 10 only twice, this being in 2002 with Jessica Garlick and in 2009 with Jade Ewen.
