Ahead of next month’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk, Eurovoix.com talks to Tamar Edilashvili from Georgia, who will sing “Your Voice”.
What was it that made you decide to take part in Ranina?
I always dreamed of representing Georgia in Junior Eurovision. So when I heard about Ranina, I immediately told my mom that I wanted to go there. She agreed and I went to the casting. I made it to the top 10 and then the top 5 and top 3. As you know I won the contest and I was so happy that I could realise my dream.
What was the biggest thing you learned from taking part in Ranina?
The biggest thing I learned in Ranina is that I learned to sing in many styles and genres of music and how to collaborate with live singers and an orchestra. It was a great experience.
Who are the people you most believe in who supported you on this journey?
My family, friends, mentors and all of Georgia.
How did you feel when you heard “Your Voice” for the first time?
When I heard the song for the first time I was shocked by how professionally was the music done. I was able to hear the voice of my generation. I loved the song, the video, everything.
Your music video takes us around Tbilisi. Why do you think it’s important to show the world what your country has to offer?
My country was developed under the influence of different cultures and Tbilisi is of synergy of all those cultures. These cultures are the main things to show the world.
Georgia has won Junior Eurovision three times before. Which of Georgia’s past entries is your favourite?
I really liked my friend Grigol Kipshidze’s song at Junior Eurovision 2017 but unfortunately he didn’t win. I liked Bzikebi (2008) and Mariam Mamadashvili (2016) too.
If you could sing with any singer, who would it be and why?
I would sing a duet with Beyonce or Stevie Wonder. They are the so experienced in what they do and I love that. Also I know so many singers who sing the songs they don’t like and just sing it for money. Beyonce and Stevie enjoy singing for singing.
