DR has revealed that the final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019 will take place on February 23 in Herning.
Herning is set to host the final of Dansk Melodi Grand Prix for a fifth time, as Denmark selects for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 on February 23. Jan Lagermand Lundme the Head of Entertainment at DR commented;
It’s a big national event every year. And the atmosphere, especially in the Boxen in Herning, is absolutely amazing when we are there. You really feel how people want this. So I am sure that those in the hall and in front of the screens at home will have a good and unique experience.
Herning has proved a successful venue for producing strong results for Denmark at the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2001, Rollo & King went on to finish 2nd at Eurovision, while 2013 winner Emmelie de Forest won Dansk Melodi Grand Prix when Herning hosted the national final.
Discussing the songs that have been submitted for Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2019, Jan Lagermand Lundme added;
Of course, we go after a high ranking again, that’s for sure. We are in full swing listening to all the submitted music now, and I think it’s doing very well. There have really been good songs so I hope and believe that this year will be successful, he says.
Tickets for the show will go on sale on October 26 at 12:00 CET here.
Denmark debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1957 alongside Austria and the United Kingdom.
