The final date for X Factor Malta has been confirmed to be on Sunday 26th January 2019. During this show, the winning act will be declared the representative for Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The final will follow 3 live shows which will be aired on the 6th, 13th and 20th of January. It’s currently unknown how many acts will appear in the grand final or whether Malta’s eventual Eurovision song will also be displayed during the show.

The final will take place in Malta Fairs and Convention Centre in Ta’Qali. The venue has previously hosted the Malta Eurovision Song Contest from 2017-2018. The venue was also used recently for the filming of the infamous “Six Chair Challenge” stage of The X Factor Malta.

Tickets are available for all 3 live shows of X Factor Malta now.

Maltese broadcaster PBS announced earlier in the year that new show X Factor Malta would be the new method for selecting who will represent Malta in the Eurovision Song Contest. The previous selection show Malta Eurovision Song Contest has been used under differing names since the nation’s debut to the contest in 1971.

X Factor Malta is currently airing the audition stages. Ben Camille is the host of the show, previously hosting both the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2016 and Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2016. Ben was also the spokesperson for Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016. The show is judged by previous Maltese Eurovision entrant Ira Losco, alongside Howard Keith Debono, Ray Mercieca and Alexandra Alden.

Malta have failed to qualify for the final in the Eurovision Song Contest in their last 2 attempts. The last time Malta was seen in the final was in 2016 when previous artist and now X Factor judge Ira Losco came 12th in Stockholm with her entry “Walk on Water”.
