The next artist to feature in our “Who Is” series for the Junior Eurovision 2018 season is Max and Anne from the Netherlands.
Max and Anne were chosen to represent the Netherlands at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk, Belarus after they won Junior Songfestival. Let’s get to know a bit more about them.
This year’s Dutch entry is made up of duo Max Albertazzi (born 17th August 2004 in Houten) and Anne Buhre (born 31st March 2004 in Voorschoten). Both of the young artists have featured on The Voice Kids in the Netherlands – Max competed in season 6, and Anne in season 7. As well as this, Anne has featured in numerous musicals, including the Sound of Music, Anastasia and De Eindmusical, and Max had attended a singing academy called BLMA until last year.
In September, the duo featured in the final of Junior Songfestival alongside three other artists. It was up to the professional jury, the kids jury, and the public to decide on the winner. In the end it was Max and Anne with their song “Samen” that took the crown.
The Netherlands debuted at the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. To date the country has only won the competition once. Their only victory came in 2009 when Ralf Mackenbach performed “Click Clack” scoring a total of 121 points, this was just 5 points more than runners-up Armenia and Russia. The Netherlands narrowly lost the contest in 2011 when Rachel performed “Teenager”, she lost by 5 points. The Netherlands worst result came in 2015 when Shalisa finished in 15th place out of 17 competing countries.
