LRT has formally opened its submissions process for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 as the broadcaster begins its search for Tel Aviv.
The search is on for Lithuania’s participant for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Israel. From today songs can be submitted for the Lithuanian selection process in three ways. Submissions are accepted for authors who offer a song, performers without a song, and performers with their own song. Submissions are open from today until December 10, with a minimum number of twenty artists competing to represent Lithuania.
The length of the Lithuanian selection process has been cut this year, meaning it will last for eight weeks. The selection will begin in January, with the final being held on February 23. The venue of the final is set to be revealed alongside the selection participants in December.
Audrius Giržadas the Head of Delegation commented;
I have no doubt that last year there were new names in Lithuania that were able to introduce themselves to a large audience. We really have songs that could enslave not only Lithuania. Both categories of applications – songwriters and performers – already looking forward from now until December 10th, and we promise to both sides – and the songs and artists – to show the best possible prospects.
Ieva Zasimauskaite represented Lithuania at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Lisbon, Portugal. With her song “When We’re Old”, she placed 12th in the Grand Final.

Lithuania didn’t return to the contest until 1999 when Aiste finished 20th with the song “Strazdas”. Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 when LT United performed “We Are The Winners”, they finished 6th in the final with a total of 162 points.
