Max & Anne have won Junior Songfestival 2018 and will represent the Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Minsk.
The final of the Junior Songfestival 2018 took place this evening with four acts competing to represent the Netherlands in Belarus. The show was hosted by Romy Monteiro. The winner was decided by 33% professional jury, 33% kids jury formed of the Fource and 34% public voting.
The results of the evening were as follows (kids jury+professional jury+public voting);
- Remix – What Girls Do: 26 points (8+9+9)
- Max & Anne – Samen: 34 points (12+10+12)
- Kiya – Butterflies: 25 points (9+8+8)
- Anna – Touch Each Other’s Heart: 32 points (10+12+10)
The three jurors in the Professional Jury were Maan, Buddy Vedder and Tommie Christiaan. Maan is known to the Dutch public after winning the 2016 series of The Voice of Holland, she has since gone on to release an album and eleven top 50 singles. Buddy Vedder had his break through in theatre before becoming an actor on television as a teenager. Tommie Christiaan is a singer and actor. He is best known for his performances in musical theatre.
The Netherlands in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest
The Netherlands debuted at the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. To date the country has only won the competition once. Their only victory came in 2009 when Ralf Mackenbach performed “Click Clack” scoring a total of 121 points, this was just 5 points more than runners-up Armenia and Russia. The Netherlands narrowly lost the contest in 2011 when Rachel performed “Teenager”, she lost by 5 points. The Netherlands worst result came in 2015 when Shalisa finished in 15th place out of 17 competing countries.
