DR K has confirmed to Eurovoix that it is currently considering whether they will be participating in Eurovision Choir of the Year 2019.
The Danish national broadcaster is currently discussing whether they will be participating in Eurovision Choir of the Year 2019. DR was one of nine broadcasters to take part in the inaugural edition of Eurovision Choir of the Year in 2017. At the time the broadcaster stated that they would reflect on whether they would continue to participate in future editions.
To date the only nations to have confirmed their participation are;
- Belgium – RTBF
- Romania – TVR
- Wales – S4C
The contest which is to be held in Gothenburg, Sweden in August 2019, currently does not have a host broadcaster. The competition is being produced in partnership with Interkultur and the European Choir Games.
Denmark was represented by the Akademisk Kor Århus at the first edition of Eurovision Choir of the Year in Riga, Latvia. They performed second in the final, they performed two pieces as part of their performance; “I Seraillets Have” and “Wiigen-Lied”. They did not place within the top three at the competition.
Following the contest Louise Brinch Seidelin the Chairwoman of the Akademisk Kor Århus gave her backing to the competition and its future. She praised the idea of the competition and expressed her wish to see it continue. Ms Brinch Seidelin added that the choir were not disappointed about not winning the contest but instead were proud of being part of the competition.
