TVP states that a decision has not yet been made as to how the Polish participant for Junior Eurovision 2018 will be selected.
Plejada has been informed by TVP that the broadcaster has yet to make a decision on how the Polish participant for Junior Eurovision 2018 will be made. In a quote to the site, they stated that an official decision has yet to be taken. But the broadcaster said that official information about the selection process will be revealed in the coming days.
When TVP confirmed that they would be participating in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 last year, they stated that a televised selection process would be held. At the time TVP documents showed that the selection was scheduled to be held in October.
Alicja Rega represented Poland at the 2017 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. With her song “Mój Dom” (My Home), she finished in 8th place with 138 points, their best entry to date. Alicja received 12 points from Ireland in the voting. Poland returned to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest after a 12-year absence in 2016 and made up the majority of the total viewing figure for the 2016 contest.
Poland participated the inaugural edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. After two consecutive last-place finishes, they withdrew from the contest in 2005. After an absence of 13 years, Poland returned to the contest in 2016. Olivia Wieczorek finished 11th in Malta with “Nie zapomnij”, Poland’s best result in the contest to date. 2.2 million people in Poland watched the 2016 contest, making up the majority of the total 3.9 million viewing figure.
