Azerbaijan will compete in the 2019 edition of the Eurovision Song Contest.
Azerbaijan’s national broadcaster Ictimai Televiziya have confirmed that they will participate in the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. It’s not yet known the method they will use to select their next entrant, however they have opted for internal selection in recent years.
Aisel represented Azerbaijan at this year’s contest in Lisbon, Portugal. However, she failed to qualify for the final with her song “X My Heart”, finishing 11th. She was 14 points away from qualification, and this was the first time the country failed to make it to the final.
Azerbaijan’s confirmation brings the provisional numbers for next year’s contest up to twenty two. There are over twenty other countries that had participated in last year’s contest that haven’t yet revealed whether they will be back next year, including 2018 host country Portugal.
