Tanel-Eiko Novikov and the Estonian delegation have left Estonia today as their journey to Eurovision Young Musicians 2018 in Edinburgh begins.
The Estonian delegation that has flown from Estonia this morning to Edinburgh, the host city of Eurovision Young Musicians 2018. The Estonian delegation is formed of the nations representative Tanel-Eik Noviko, Tanel-Eiko’s mother Ingrid Novikova, mentor Kristjan Mรคeots and Heidi Pruuli of the Head of Delegation for Estonia.
Tanel-Eiko Novikov will be representing Estonia in Edinburgh, he is 17 years old and was the youngest participant inย Klassikatรคhtede. Tanel-Eiko is a percussionist and has shown an interest in music since an early age. He has performed both in local competitions, but also in events and contests across Europe and the United States. Tanel-Eiko will perform in the first show of the second semi-final, he will be performing;

Estonia made their debut in the contest at the 1994 contest in Warsaw, when a record 24 nations took part in the competition. Estonia debuted alongside the likes of Macedonia, Germany and Croatia. The countryโs best result came in 1996 whenย Hanna Heinmaa finished 3rd at the competition in Lisbon.

Eurovision Young Musicians has been held bi-annually since 1982. The contest was based on the format of The BBC Young Musician of the Year in the United Kingdom. Performers in the contest must be aged under 18 years and are selected by their participating broadcaster. Each performer performs a piece of classical music of their choice accompanied by the local orchestra. The winner is decided by a jury made up of classical music experts and talents.
