For the first time the main channel of RTVSLO will be airing Eurovision Young Musicians live to audiences across Slovenia.
Following the successful broadcast of the first edition of Eurovision Choir of the Year 2017 on RTVSLO1, the final of this years edition of Eurovision Young Musicians will air live on the channel. Previously Eurovision Young Musicians had been broadcast on the secondary channel of the Slovene broadcaster. Currently RTVSLO is the only competing broadcaster to confirm that they will be airing the final of this years contest on their main channel.
18-year-old Nikola Pajanović will represent Slovenia at Eurovision Young Musicians 2018. The musician from Ljubljana beat off competition from five other talented performers from across Slovenia in the national final in April. Nikola will perform during the second show of the first semi-final on August 18, he will perform;
- Paganini – Caprice no 7
- Kreisler – Tambourin Chinois
- Ysaye – Sonata for violin solo No 3
Commentary will be provided by Andrej Hofer. Mr Hofer has been the Slovenian commentator at the Eurovision Song Contest since 2008 and previously commentated at Junior Eurovision in 2015 and 2016. Head of Delegation Danica Dolinar and Nikola’s teacher Gorjan Košuta will travel to Edinburgh for the contest.
The semi-finals of the contest will be broadcast online via the RTVSLO portal.

Eurovision Young Musicians has been held bi-annually since 1982. The contest was based on the format of The BBC Young Musician of the Year in the United Kingdom. Performers in the contest must be aged under 18 years and are selected by their participating broadcaster. Each performer performs a piece of classical music of their choice accompanied by the local orchestra. The winner is decided by a jury made up of classical music experts and talents.
