The production team behind 1in360, the San Marinese selection process for Eurovision 2018, have begun working on the 2019 edition of the show.
In the past week 1in360 has revealed its new branding for the 2019 edition of the show. On both YouTube and Instagram a new logo and styling of the show have been released. According to the social media accounts of the show, the contest is set to return for 2019, however San Marino RTV has not confirmed whether 1in360 will be used as the nations selection process for Eurovision 2019 in Israel.
1in360 was launched in 2018 as San Marino’s first ever televised selection process for the Eurovision Song Contest. The show used an online selection process which saw over 1000 singers submit videos of either original songs or covers. The show culminated in a live final which was held in Bratislava, Slovakia with the winner determined by online voting and a jury.
San Marino RTV has only previously held an open call for songs on one occasion before 2018, that being in 2008 when Miodio were eventually selected by a jury to be the Republic’s first Eurovision representatives in Belgrade.
In Lisbon, San Marino was represented by Jessika feat. Jenifer Brening with the song “Who We Are”. The nation finished 17th with 28 points, the nation was just 4 points above Georgia who finished last in the second semi-final.
San Marino debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2008 alongside Azerbaijan. On their debut they were represented by Miodio and the song “Complice”, and finished last in their semi final with just 5 points. San Marino withdrew from the contest before returning again in 2011. Since then the country has participated annually and in 2014 qualified for their first final. The nations worst result came in 2017 when Valentina Monetta represented San Marino for the fourth time alongside Jimmie Wilson with “Spirit of the Night.” The pair finished last in their semi-final with just 1 point.
