MRT has called for artists to represent FYR Macedonia at this year’s Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Minsk, Belarus.
Macedonian broadcaster MRT has made a call for artists for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The selection process will be split into two parts – first, the artist that will represent the country will be selected by an expert panel at a hearing that will take place at MRT studios on August 18th. Candidates have until August 16th to register for this, and can do so via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The second part of the process is choosing the right song for the artist. The song will be selected within 15 days of choosing the artist, and will abide by the contest rules. A full explanation of the rules of this selection can be found here.
The 2018 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Minsk, Belarus after the country won the bidding process before the 2017 contest even began. Olga Salamankha explained that Belarus was selected as the host for next years contest over other bids due to their long-term commitment to the competition.
Twenty countries will take part in this years contest. These are:
- FYR Macedonia
- The Netherlands
Macedonia was one of sixteen countries to take part in the first edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2003. On their debut they were represented by Marija & Viktorija with the song “Ti ne me poznavaš” finishing 12th with 19 points. Macedonia’s best result to date is 5th place, which they achieved in 2007 with “Ding Ding Dong” by Rosica & Dimitar and in 2008 with “Prati mi SMS” by Bobi Andonov.
