The official “Bones” remix EP has been released by Equinox, two months on from the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.
Equinox who represented Bulgaria at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Lisbon, Portugal have released an EP of remix of their song “Bones”. The EP features remixes from DJ Burlak, DJ Kuoga and DJ Dagge. DJ Burlak is the best known of the three involved DJ’s having remixed songs by Jack Hewitt as well as a number of Bulgarian artists.
The group finished 14th in the Grand Final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. Equinox had been one of the favourites to win the contest in Lisbon, but failed to impress the public scoring 66 points and finishing 14th in the televote. The result marked the worst result for Bulgaria since their return to the competition in 2016.
Equinox were selected to represent Bulgaria in Lisbon with the song “Bones”. The group is composed of five vocalists: Zhana Bergendorff, a Bulgarian singer/songwriter who won the 2013 edition of X Factor Bulgaria; Vlado Mihailov, Bulgarian singer/songwriter, the frontman of the bands Safo and Sleng; Georgi Simeonov, a Bulgarian singer, songwriter and producer who debuted in the Bulgarian boy band 032; Johnny Manuel, an American singer who gained popularity from America’s Got Talent 2017; and Trey Campbell, also an American singer who has written songs for singers like Bebe Rexha, Julie Bergen, and Alexandra Stan.
At the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest, 17-year-old Kristian Kostov finished in second place in the Grand Final, bringing Bulgaria their best ever result. 2017 saw Bulgaria make only their third final in their Eurovision history, the first being in 2007 when Elitsa & Stoyan finished 5th with the song “Water”. Bulgaria debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, Ukraine in 2005. The country competed annually from 2005 to 2013, before withdrawing for two years due to financial issues.
