Dustin the Turkey wants to return to the Eurovision Song Contest, but this time representing the United Kingdom.
Ireland’s 2008 Eurovision representative, Dustin The Turkey, has recently expressed his wish to represent neighbouring country the United Kingdom at the Eurovision Song Contest. In an interview with The Star, Dustin said:
I’m all grown up now. I’m 12. I would love to go and represent the UK in the Eurovision and I’ll tell you why, it’s very simple, you get straight to the final. I would love to do it with the UK. Sure what have they got to lose. My body and beautiful face just isn’t meant for Ireland.
When asked about his experience at the contest 10 years ago, he said:
When RTE came to me and said we’re going to send you off to Eurovision, cos we don’t want to win this thing, here’s ten grand in a brown envelope, I said grand – I got a two week holiday to Serbia.
Dustin the Turkey represented Ireland at the 2008 Eurovision Song Contest in Belgrade, Serbia. However, he failed to qualify for the final with his song “Irelande Douze Points”.

Ireland debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1965 and is currently the most successful country to have participated in the contest, winning a total of seven times. During the 1990s Ireland was a powerhouse in the contest becoming the first country to win three years in a row from 1992 to 1994. Since 2000 Ireland has struggled in the contest having qualified from the semi-final into the final just six out of a possible 13 times. Ireland’s last top 10 result came in 2011 when Jedward finished 8th in Dusseldorf.
