UA:PBC has confirmed to Eurovoix that a decision on Junior Eurovision 2018 participation is yet to be taken, as the deadline to confirm participation draws closer.
The national broadcaster of Ukraine has confirmed to Eurovoix that they are still deciding on whether they will participate in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018. The broadcaster held meetings last week regarding participation in this years contest in Minsk, Belarus, but no decision was taken at the end of last week. UA:PBC is interested in taking part again this year, but no documentation has yet been signed.
The 2018 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Minsk, Belarus after the country won the bidding process before the 2017 contest even began. Olga Salamankha explained that Belarus was selected as the host for next years contest over other bids due to their long-term commitment to the competition.
The following countries have stated that they will be participating in Minsk:
Ukraine debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2006 and has competed in the contest ever since. To date Ukraine has only won the competition once. In 2012 Anastasiya Petryk won in Amsterdam with the song “Nebo”, she scored 138 points including eight sets of 12 points. Ukraine has hosted the contest twice, the first time being in 2009 and the second being in 2013 following their victory in Amsterdam.
