Russia: Anna Filipchuk to the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018

Anna Filipchuk has been selected this evening in Crimea to represent Russia at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 in Minsk, Belarus.

Defending champions of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest Russia, have selected Anna Filipchuk with the song “Nepobedimy” (Invincible) to represent them at this years competition in Minsk. Twelve acts took to the stage at the Artek camp on the Crimean coast, each performing a song specifically written for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.

The twelve acts competing tonight were:

  1. Arkadiy Yevtushenko – Ya zdes (I’m here)
  2. Mishel Zadorozhnaya – Podelis mechtoy (Share your dream)
  3. Aleksandra Kirilchuk – Family tree
  4. Yelizaveta Kuklishina – Mechta moya (My dream)
  5. Group Dodostar – Poslushay (Listen)
  6. Evelina Mazurina – Poy dushoy (Sing your soul)
  7. Group Matreshki – Vse mezhdu nami (All between us)
  8. Tatyana Melnichenko – Schastye na ladonyakh (Happiness in the palm of your hands)
  9. Diana Smykova – Barabum
  10. Ivan Starikov – Neutomimyye (Tireless)
  11. Anna Filipchuk – Nepobedimy (Invincible)
  12. Anya Yakubuk – Vselennaya (Universe)

The winner of the selection was decided by 50% jury voting and an 50% online public vote. The public vote opened last week and closed ahead of the show this evening. The results of the public vote as of 22:00 CET on June 2 were as follows:

  • Arkadiy Yevtushenko – Ya zdes (I’m here) – 15%
  • Mishel Zadorozhnaya – Podelis mechtoy (Share your dream) – 4%
  • Aleksandra Kirilchuk – Family tree – 6%
  • Yelizaveta Kuklishina – Mechta moya (My dream) – 4%
  • Group Dodostar – Poslushay (Listen) – 15%
  • Evelina Mazurina – Poy dushoy (Sing your soul) – 5%
  • Group Matreshki – Vse mezhdu nami (All between us) – 9%
  • Tatyana Melnichenko – Schastye na ladonyakh (Happiness in the palm of your hands) – 4%
  • Diana Smykova – Barabum – 2%
  • Ivan Starikov – Neutomimyye (Tireless) – 16%
  • Anna Filipchuk – Nepobedimy (Invincible) – 18%
  • Anya Yakubuk – Vselennaya (Universe) – 2%

The jury was formed of Igor Krutoy, Larisa Dolina, Sergey Lazarev (Represented Russia at Eurovision 2016), Oleg Gazmanov, Nikolai Baskov and Polina Bogusevich (Winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2017 for Russia).

The final will be broadcast tomorrow evening on Karusel from 19:45 CET.

Russia debuted in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in 2005 and has participated in the contest every year since. Russia won the contest for the first time in 2006 when they were represented by the Tolmachevy Twins with the song “Vesenniy jazz”, who scored a total of 154 points. Russia has never finished outside of the top 10 in their time at the contest, and have finished second twice, fourth four times and fifth once. Last year in Georgia, Russia won the contest for a second time represented by Polina Bogusevich and “Wings”
