Junior Eurovision’18: Technical Inspection of BTRC Takes Place

Preparations for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018 continue in Belarus, as Ola Melzig visited BTRC today to inspect their technical capabilities.

Ola Melzig the Technical Director of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2018, traveled to Minsk, Belarus today to inspect the technical capabilities of the Belarusian national broadcaster. Ola was joined by Tarmo Krimm as they were shown around BTRC and the equipment that is required for the production of the contest in November.

The Technical Director said that;

Now we are working on the technical strategy of the competition. We try to take into account all the nuances. The TV picture plays a decisive role, therefore it is very important for us to make sure what resources Belteleradiocompany has, how many cameras we can use on the site, the capabilities of technical personnel. Today I can say that we are satisfied with what we saw.

The 2018 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest will be held in Minsk, Belarus after the country won the bidding process before the 2017 contest even began. Olga Salamankha explained that Belarus was selected as the host for next years contest over other bids due to their long-term commitment to the competition.

The following countries have stated that they will be participating in Minsk:

  • Armenia
  • Belarus
  • France
  • Georgia
  • Netherlands
  • Poland
  • Portugal
  • Russia
  • Serbia
  • Wales

France return to the contest after having only appearing once at the contest in 2004. Wales make their debut this year through Welsh speaking broadcaster S4C.
