According to Oddschecker, Lithuania is now amongst the top favourites to win the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.
Tonight Ieva Zasimauskaite from Lithuania was one of ten qualifiers from the first semi-final in Lisbon. After her performance of When We’re Old, odds were slashed for a potential victory for Lithuania in the contest. If Ieva takes the crown on Saturday, this would be a first victory in Eurovision for the Baltic nation.
According to Oddschecker, the current top 5 in the betting markets after the first semi final are:
1 – Cyprus – Eleni Fouriera – Fuego
2- Norway – Alexander Rybak – That’s How You Write A Song
3- Israel – Netta – Toy
4-France – Madame Monsieur – Mercy
5-Lithuania – Ieva Zasimauskaite – When We’re Old
Ieva’s performance this evening used three different on screen graphics from her official music video, while the end of the performance sees an emotional moment between Ieva and her husband.
Ieva performed a few lines near the end of the song in Lithuanian. This is the first time that the language has been heard at Eurovision since 2001.
Ieva Zasimauskaite was born on 2nd July 1993 in Kaunas, Lithuania. Ieva is no stranger to Eurovision selection shows as she has attempted to represent Lithuania on four previous occasions – in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017.

Lithuania in the Eurovision Song Contest
Lithuania debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1994, however on their debut they finished in last place with nul points. Lithuania didn’t return to the contest until 1999 when Aiste finished 20th with the song “Strazdas”. Lithuania’s best result came in 2006 when LT United performed “We Are The Winners”, they finished 6th in the final with a total of 162 points. Lithuania’s only other top.10 finish came in 2016 when Donny Montell performed “I’ve Been Waiting For This Night” in Stockholm, he received 12 points from the public in Ireland, Norway & United Kingdom.
