It has been announced by HRT that Uršula Tolj will return to present the points for Croatia during the Grand Final for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest.
Uršula has taken on this role twice before. These were in 2013 just before the nation took a two year break from the contest and last year for Kyiv in 2017. Uršula Tolj is a television presenter at HRT, the Croatian national broadcaster.
She first became involved in broadcast media in 1993 when she began worked at Radio Rijeka, she has worked for the Croatian national broadcaster since 1996. Alongside her work as a presenter she is also a writer of Children’s books.
This year Croatia will be represented by Franka with her song “Crazy”.
Franka has previously stated that she has dreamed of going to Eurovision since 1994, when as a little girl she watched Tony Cetinski who represented Croatia that year with “Nek’ ti bude ljubav sva.” This year, Franka’s favourite entries in the contest come from Belgium and France.
Franka will sing for Croatia in the 12th slot of semi-final 1 of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 live from Lisbon on Tuesday 8 May.
Croatia debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993, they were one of three countries to debut in the contest that year. Croatia’s best result came in 1999 when Doris Dragovic finished 4th in Jerusalem. She performed the song “Marija Magdalena” which scored a total of 118 points, this included 12 points from Slovenia and Spain. Croatia returned to the contest in 2016 having withdrawn after the 2013 contest due to a string of poor results and financial difficulties.
