John Kennedy O’Connor will be returning to the Eurovision Song Contest for a second time as a spokesperson for San Marino.
John Kennedy O’Connor is best known for his work on the Eurovision Song Contest having written The Eurovision Song Contest – The Official History. Since 2012 he has worked with San Marino RTV presenting their preview shows for the competition. While in 2014 and 2015 he provided English language commentary at the contest for San Marino RTV.
This will be the second time that John Kennedy O’Connor has announced the results of the San Marinese jury. In 2013 he announced the points from the smallest country in the contest giving 12 points to Greece.
San Marino is represented by Jessika and Jenifer Brening. Jessika, who hails from Malta, and Jenifer from Germany were chosen to represent San Marino after they took part in the Eurovision selection show 1in360, which was used to discover talent from around the world. They will participate at the Eurovision Song Contest in May with their song “Who We Are”.
Jessika has made it to Eurovision in 2018 after a total of 7 previous attempts to represent her home country. Her highest placing at MESC (the Maltese selection show) was 7th in 2016 with her song “The Flame”.
The duo will perform their song in the first half of the second-semi final of Eurovision 2018 on Thursday 10 May. Their first rehearsal in the arena is due for Tuesday. They will be hoping to take San Marino to the final of the contest for only the second time in history after Valentina Monetta qualified to the final in 2014 with Maybe.
The show is broadcast on San Marino RTV and on Radio San Marino.

San Marino in the Eurovision Song Contest
Over 9 years of participation San Marino have only once qualified for the Eurovision final when Valentina Monetta represented the country with “Maybe (Forse)” in Copenhagen. She finished in 24th place with 14 points, San Marino’s best result to date. This year Valentina represented her country for the 4th time, this time joined on stage by American singer Jimmie Wilson. The pair’s entry “Spirit of the Night” finished in last place in its semi-final in Kyiv, scoring just 1 point.
