Mélovin has given hints of what we can expect from his performance of “Under the Ladder” at Eurovision 2018.
Speaking to Deutsche Welle the singer revealed small details of what we can expect from his staging in Lisbon, Portugal. The singer revealed that changes have been made to the performance since Vidbir, however the basis of the performance remains the same from the Ukrainian selection. Specifically the fire and flames that were seen in the Ukrainian selection remain but;
Some moments will be completely different. And it seems to me that the viewer is very surprised. There will be a technological show.
Ukraine will be represented by Mélovin at this year’s contest. Mélovin is no stranger to Eurovision selection shows, as he participated in Vidbir 2017 with his song “Wonder”. He ended up placing third in the Final, receiving the highest amount of televote points but placing second-to-last with the jury. A year later he participated once again, this time placing first. This time around he received the highest amount of televote points and second-highest amount of jury points.

Ukraine first participated in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2003, when Oleksandr Ponomariov performed “Hasta la vista”. The following year Ruslana brought the country their first win with the song “Wild Dances”. It was a feat that would be replicated in 2016 by Jamala with her song “1944”; her emotionally charged song scored a record 534 points to take victory in Stockholm. Last year O.Torvald represented the country on home soil with the song “Time”. The group finished in 24th place, Ukraine’s worst result at the contest to date.
